As Vietnamese students chart new paths in pursuing education abroad, there's a notable transition from reliance on traditional scholarships towards embracing common application platforms. Rather than solely depending on scholarships offered by individual institutions, students are increasingly turning to common application systems like the Common Application or UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). These platforms streamline the application process, allowing students to apply to multiple institutions with a single application, thus expanding their options and optimizing their chances of acceptance. This shift reflects a strategic approach to navigating the competitive landscape of international education, enabling students to cast a wider net while also simplifying the application procedure. Additionally, common applications facilitate better organization and tracking of application statuses, empowering students to manage their admissions journey more efficiently. By embracing these platforms, Vietnamese students demonstrate adaptability and resourcefulness in navigating the evolving landscape of global education.

A range of issues are currently affecting traditionally popular study destinations such as the UK, US, Canada, and Australia, including policy shifts and, in some instances, uncertainties over forthcoming elections. This plenary session explores the impact on South East Asian students and the evolving landscape of international education. We'll discuss how, while the UK and Australia have remained popular destinations, these changes are prompting students to consider alternative destinations including Japan.
However, venturing abroad isn't the only option. We'll also delve into the growing role of transnational education, which offers high-quality international education and pathway opportunities within South East Asia itself. This discussion will equip agents with a broader range of study options to guide Southeast Asian students in achieving their international education goals.
