The right score: Best practices for setting and managing English proficiency requirements for university admissions

Recent media reports have questioned the English proficiency requirements set by universities and the adherence to those standards when it comes to international student admissions.

In addition, a new study from IELTS Research reveals substantial variations in how the minimum scores are set across institutions. Indeed, the researchers found that in many cases the average scores required for university admissions are lower than those recommended by test providers.

Against this background, this webinar examines the issues around setting English test scores and offers support and advice for admissions and recruitment teams. It looks at why setting the right threshold for test scores is important for students and the institution. The standard-setting process is explored, including who needs to be involved, how frequently accepted scores should be reviewed, and how best to publicise score requirements.
